The Detunda-Nerja Caves Botanical Garden – jardín botánico Detunda-Cueva de Nerja – finally opened to the public on June 29th 2017, three years after its completion.
Work on the botanical gardens began in 2011 and were completed in 2014 at a cost of roughly three million euros.
The Botanical Garden covers an area of 26,000 square metres and contains around 200 species of plants found in the mountains of Málaga and Granada provinces, including orchids and a number of rare specimens. The plants are all labelled and there are a number of information boards scattered throughout the garden.
A 1.6km walking route winds through the garden and there is also a small pond. There are several seating areas, mostly shaded, where you can stop along the way.
Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 15:00
Entry is free.
